The winner of a Trail of Painted Ponies Holiday art competition, “Vintage Greetings” was inspired by artwork found on traditional old-time Christmas cards that inspire nostalgic holiday memories, evoke family traditions, and reach across generations. Depicted is a bundled-up couple heading on a horse-drawn sleigh ride through the countryside under a starlit sky on the way to church on Christmas Eve.

One of the more delightful holiday moments of this talented artist’s past - one that captured the beauty of Christmas for her and inspired “Song of the Cardinal” - is the memory of a scene glimpsed out a window on a winter morning, when two cardinals, a red male and a yellow female, joyous spots of color set against a somber gray day, perched on snow-laden evergreen boughs and sang to each other.

O Holy Night

Item # 4053779 |
Inspired by the movie “Frozen,” this princess of a Painted Pony, created by a talented artist from the United Kingdom, illustrates the surprising ways the horse can serve as an artistic canvas. Looking like it is carved from clear blue ice, it is sprinkled with winter magic in the form of beautiful white snowflakes. |

Ponies painted with nativity scenes have become a holiday favorite with collectors, and pictured in stylish fashion on “O Holy Night” is a moment of quiet intimacy shared by Joseph, Mary and the baby Jesus, sheltered in an old stable, before they must acknowledge that the newborn child will live a life like no other. He will in fact change the whole world. The swirling patterns that surround the family symbolize the wondrous and miraculous events that are about to happen.

Look closely and you can all but see Christmas lights dancing off the rich colors of the crimson and gold velvet robe, as this excited Pony trots his way into the hearts of collectors at Christmas time. |

With the arrival of Spring comes new life, new beginnings and treasures that are a promise of tomorrows to come. There could be no better way to capture the blessings of this time of year than to paint a little fawn nestled on the forest floor where it is almost invisible beneath nature's blanket of dried leaves, hidden by its mother to keep it safe. |
